## Ingesting Meters from File Sources

Metering data is often generated and stored in **files** by other systems.

These files may be in formats such as:

- **CSV**
- **JSON**
- Other structured or semi-structured types

In many cases, the data needs to be **transformed** before it can be ingested into Amberflo’s metering system.


**Options for Ingesting File-Based Metering Data**

You have several methods available:

1. **Write code using our SDKs to:**
   Read data from files, Transform the data if needed and Send it to Amberflo for ingestion
2. **Use Logstash to: **
   Parse and transform the file contents and Upload the transformed data to Amberflo's **S3** **bucket**. 
3. **Use an ETL Tool**
   Any **ETL tool** that can push data to **S3** is supported.
   Amberflo will automatically pick up the files and ingest them once they’re in your assigned bucket.
